Bio: Phillip B. Klingler, aka PBK, was born in 1960 in Flint, Michigan. Studying art at Northern Michigan University and CSU San Bernardino, he was very
active in the early 80's on the mail-art scene and exhibited paintings in and around Los Angeles. His visual art was profiled recently in Jonathan Canady's blog, "Colors Of The Dark". PBK has been working in the areas of noise, ambient and electro-acoustic music since 1986. A prominent figure in the U.S. cassette underground, PBK's work was critically acclaimed, leading to music releases in all formats, including vinyl, CD and, more recently, MP3 net-releases. PBK’s work has appeared on over 40 full-length releases and countless compilation albums. His music has been released in the USA, Europe, Russia and Japan. PBK has toured and performed in the U.S. and Europe and has collaborated with many internationally known musicians, such as Artemiy Artemiev, **Asmus Tietchens,** Jarboe, Jeph Jerman, Nocturnal Emissions, Vidna Obmana, Wolf Eyes, and many others. Recently he has been
working with independent filmmakers, contributing sound cues for the Detroit area horror series, "Lee Martin's The Midnight Hour", Hart D. Fisher's
"Flowers On The Razorwire" and director Joe LiTrenta's film adaptation of Thomas Mann's "The Magic Mountain". The less well-known side of his work is his writing, though PBK has been published in Chemical Castration, Electrogenesis, Electronic Cottage, EST, New Art Examiner, and his cutup-style poems have appeared in the Uncommon Sense and the Japanese magazine, Words. He currently resides in the Flint, Michigan area of his childhood.
