Michael Thomas Jackson (b.1969) has been creating and releasing music since 1985. He has been involved in notated composition, electro-acoustics, avant rock, free improvisation and everything in between. He has worked extensively with extended techniques on the clarinet and this spirit of experimentation has extended to the guitar as well as analog and digital electronics. He has collaborated with numerous individuals and groups and has had his music released internationally.
Although Michael is mainly an autodidact, he studied composition at The North Carolina School Of The Arts from 1994-1998 on a Vittorio Giannini scholarship. It was here that he co-founded the Spool Ensemble, an electro-acoustic improvisation group still active to this day.
Michael currently resides in North Carolina and is active in performing, recording and releasing music through his Primecuts Recordings imprint.
