Yes, there’s more than a million ways to spend your time, such as for example, to listen a great compilation album, along with some glass of a good wine, or to experience the vast dynamism reflected by musical projects relating the label Quasi Pop. Coz well, both of them are between the ways we like to spend time.
Quasi Pop label was formed in Kiev in 2001 as a way to promote unknown acts from all around the world. This independent label on post soviet territory, has released a quantity of releases with high quality. This time Quasi Pop bring us this compilation cd through 72:18 minutes in which you shall find 17 compositions varying from Drone/Electro acoustic experimentations, surrealistic pop to organic acid noise, and digital re folk. An amazing selection of different acts coming from countries as Norway, Germany, Ukraine, Poland and France.
Through each composition you shall experience diverse musical structures based in professionalism and dynamic expressionism which is latent when you experience for example artists such as Black To Comm, creating sounds through the well use of drone elements and vinyl loops. Ukrainian’s Peel Off The Bass, with an sticking track recorded exclusively for this release. Acoustic guitar experimentation with interesting melodic parts. Tv Pow is an American organism focusing this track into deep environmental atmospheres and sounds from diverse sources. Lasse Marhaugh is a Norwegian artist coming from Oslo City. Also he plays in Origami Republika and here he offer us a psychedelic noise spectrum. Ukranian’s Andrey Kiritchenko develops an electro acoustic track full of impressive moments and guitar drone elements converging all the time.
O.Lamm is a surrealistic pop act coming from Paris France, with some electro and cut-off elements which seems as the cd is broken, so, very original in its own sound. While THE COMPLAINER is a Polish act with a track based in percussive elements with strong structures and synths which goes perfectly with the percussive rhythmic patterns. Andreas Brandal is a Norwegian noise machine creating corrosive substances able to deteriorate the most solid structures. The music is transgressive and very chaotic in its own nature.
Charsky is the project of Ukranian Georgy Charsky, and comes with an emotive composition through acoustic experimentations and some vocals, giving such a melancholic atmosphere. Another artist is Biblioteka Prospero with a piano composition under solid saxophone improvisations and Russian texts spoken in a very provocative way. A twisted track worth to experience.
This release is dedicated to 5th birthday of Quasi Pop label, and limited to 500 copies.
