Black Magic Disco

Artist: Black Magic Disco None

Title: Black Magic Disco

Label: Important Records United States

Genre: Experimental / Electronic / Ethno Ambient

Four untitled tracks

From what I'm seeing and listening to here this is a live CD recorded a few years back with members of Jackie-O Motherfucker, My Cat Is An Alien & Praxinoscope making a soundscape college of sounds, textures and feeling. There are several styles of vocals going on some in Japanese some heavily effected and then there are the Ethno sung and chanted kind. There the vocal loops and samples going on from time to time as well. The four tracks sound very improvised and organic as they are created. Black Magic Disco tracks take a long slow build and get to a drone or noisy point and seem to expand or collapse form that point. All the Tracks are well over 15 minute in length. Live this must be a event to be seen.

Black Magic Disco is not an easy or friendly listen. I will take the adventure ones to absorb and fully understand the very nature of this beast. What we have here is more of the piece of the world collab then the machine as a whole. The disjointed overtones are just what these several creator want you to witness. Black Magic Disco is almost a rite of passage , A cleansing of ones demons to help you move on to the next level of enlightenment. There is something very unsettling about this project but I think this is what is drawing it to me with very abstract guitar, bass and percussion that seems to play a major role in all that is Black Magic Disco.

The packaging comes to us in an eco friendly digipak with some primitive but very effect artwork for what your about to listen. I would truly like to hear proper Studio tracks by this band as I think it would be a lot different from anything the create live. There is at time a very 60/70's art house music vibe going on. If your a Coil or Neubauten fan then this is must listen for sure.
