For some strange reason I always have it in my head that I'm not that into rhythmic noise. Whenever people talk about it I tend to say that I can listen to it but it's not top of my list. Every so often I receive a release that makes me realise that I really enjoy the genre, when it's done well. Android In Motion has given me one of those reminders with the Final Temptations.

Far from being the typical “mindless techno with distortion” that much of the rhythmic noise scene seems to produce, AIM seems to be highly skilled at actual song-craft. Through a range of dynamics, intelligent manipulation of samples, and a killer range of beats, this CDR puts AIM ahead of the majority of the genre. I love the atmosphere created by each track, such as the frantic hysteria of Kill Adolescents. Some of the other tracks such as the final track on the album have me thinking of Black Lung, which is a pretty major acheivement in my book.

For me this release has the best off all worlds. I can imagine it being awesome in a DJ set in some dingy warehouse full of a thousand sweaty people writhing to the beats, while at the same time I can sit at home and listen to it more closely to admire the quality of the noise manipulation and construction. Fans of rhythmic noise and industrial would not want to miss out on this CDR. Certainly one of the best artists in this field. It's also released on Roil Noise, which is a label to watch for interesting up and coming artists in a variety of noise related genres.
