This is certainly a strange one.  For me, the band first got their acclaim and name from ex-Stream of Passion member Arjen Anthony Lucassen.  This music goes a bit beyond progressive and sounding psychadelic.  Space Mirrors creates an atmosphere almost worthy of complete reality breakdown, venturing out in our own minds into the stars with a sort of neo-hippie essence surrounding all flight participants.  The thing that makes this album even more trippy is the fact that one member is from one of the coldest countries on earth while the other bastes in the sun daily (Michael Blackman is from Australia while Alisa Coral hails from Moscow, Russia.)  This can hardly even really be considered progressive metal or rock.  It sounds more to me like progressive ambient with spoken word influences?  The sounds are obviously linear, but somehow maintain a randomized state of sound.  There isn't a track on this album that doesn't sound somewhat random in a way with several different synthetic noise factors as well as acoustic instruments and drum machines.

As mentioned before, Space Mirrors creates a more psychadelic atmosphere than most other artists.  You almost have to be on some serious drugs or extremely potent marijuana to be able to fully experience this music.  I myself didn't particularly find this release very enjoyable to listen to as i'm not into drugs nor do I really have an appreciation for the groovey psychadelic side of music, but I do have an enormous amount of respect for psychadelic musicians and artists due to a number of releases I received for review when I first came here to Heathen Harvest.  The music is incredibly well written and all the strange keyboard overtones and melodies amongst the various strange space-like noises are well placed to say the least.  There is nothing sloppy or off about this album, it is actually an incredibly salute to musicianship.  I just personally do not have an appetite for it.

So, I suppose if you are a fan of psychadelic atmospheres and even melodious keyboard 'drones' (drones being put in quotations due to the fact that its not really droning, but more of a way of describing the sound appeal of the music), then you could and should pick this release up.  The label Sleaszy Rider Records is Greek so of course I will be supporting them.  Very well written music indeed on Memories of the Future, you just have to be a certain kind of music lover to appreciate this album to the fullest.
