There's a new generation of noiseniks out there and they're not playing around. Now that circuit-bending and home-fashioned electronics has proliferated, there's a near glut of bedroom
noise acts around the world. God bless 'em all, but some folks stand out from the pack. Drunk Decade are one such act.
Here is the real M & M- the ones from Philly. While not obliging their duties with Sharks With Wings, running labels, doing radio, touring and releasing collections of found answering machine tapes, Marc Zajack & Michael Barker supply us with this little gem. It kicks off with 'Kensoteric,' one hot little puppy that never lets up. It's like tongue-testing a 9V battery and just keeping your tongue there until it melts into a slab of senseless flesh. It ebbs and flows like any great music should and the fact these guys play together on a regular basis is apparent. The second track concentrates more on low-to-mid frequencies and honestly isn't even necessary.
The flip-side opens like a reminder of that night I experienced an earthquake and the power lines entangled my head like a crown of thorns. Hell, I was only five years old but this trumps the comic book I was reading at the time. From here it's ON like a tricked-out Hummer blaring Masonna down the streets of Des Moines past your drunk uncle's trailer and straight between the legs of that hot nerd that dissed you in the 9th grade. 'Fuck Like Tetnis' locks your jaw like only tetanus can and then it's time to flip the k7 and dig 'Kensoteric' again.
Anyone interested in contemporary noise music should do themselves a favor here. These cats
pump out the pedal jams straight to your cranium. You can waste your money on rare Wolf Eyes and Merzbow records but the real deal is right here now people. Don't blow it.
