The Beauty of Gemina is a new romantic-styled band out of Switzerland making synth-rock music in vein of the likes of Assemblage 23, only much less depressing. The band themselves states that the music is dedicated to people behind the scenes in our every day world, the ones who aren't featured on the news daily or on television, people like you and me who wander this earth seeminly endlessly for a century or so then pass away. The Beauty of Gemina seeks to create a kingdom by the sea in which we all can experience happiness once again, away from the violence and depressing images of every day life that we are force fed everywhere we look. They push forward beauty in this world and attempt to show life as still being colorful and not worth giving up.
Diary of a Lost is an epic journey through futuristic kingdoms of love and peace, full of classical samples and gothy trance breakbeats, one of which can be found in the middle of Victims of Love. The music featured on Diary of a Lost is absolutely phenomenal, heartfelt and pushes the limits of synthpop itself. Not many have as creatively put forth an album that is this complete and romantic in its very nature. Few have even made songs to rival the likes of Diary of a Lost. Seraphim Shock had once written a song entitled "Beyond Forever" that can be found on the Red Silk Vow album that really fits well with this music, but it is the only track written from any artist that I can really think of. Even poetry from the likes of Lord Byron and Persey Bysshe Shelley comes to mind when listening to the beautiful array of tracks present by the Beauty of Gemina.
This is one of the better poppy albums that I have heard in some time. Normally I'm strictly a fan of harsh EBM when it comes to dancey music, but anyone who's into the club scene should find Diary of a Lost rather abrasive. The album is full of beauty and melody while still maintaining a hard-stomping dance beat, and has a beautiful message behind it. The lyrics themselves are written intelligently and poetically while the vocals are sang in the tone of melancholy, but somehow still represent the emotion of hope. The Beauty of Gemina have masterfully crafted perhaps a few of the next goth club hits on this album, so if you're in a dance mood, pick this album up. Poets will really love this as well.
