The Bacchic Dance of the Nymphs - Tyrvasia

Artist: Daemonia Nymphe Greece

Title: The Bacchic Dance of the Nymphs - Tyrvasia

Label: Prikosnovenie France

Genre: Neoclassical / Neofolk / Mediterranean Folk / Esoteric

Daemonia Nymphe is a creative esoteric / neoclassical band that hails from Greece . Daemonia Nymphe were been signed with Prikosnovenie Records of France in 2002. “The Bacchic Dance of the Nymphs – Tyrvasia” is the second release on Prikosnovenie Records since the bands signing. “The Bacchic Dance of the Nymphs – Tyrvasia” is actually not a new album by Daemonia Nymphe but rather a reissue of the bands original debut album and a mini-CD from earlier in their career.

Daemonia Nymphe are amongst a small hand full of Greek musicians exploring music inspired by the ancient music of Helena and the ancient Greek culture this traditional music stemmed from. Daemonia Nymphe have focused upon their rich heritage as Greek persons and have delved deeply into the music of their ancestry to bring forth original historically inspired songs that are graced by references to myth and ancient Hellenic culture. Daemonia Nymphe's dedication extends even further as they have paired with instrument manufacturer Nicholas Brass. Nicholas and the members of Daemonia Nymphe share a commitment to music that is manifested through Nicholas producing, tuning, and refining historical instrument reproductions for the mutual benefit of the band and manufacturer.

The music of Daemonia Nymphe though deeply rooted in historical and ancient Greek traditions is not laden with the many negative connotations of historical music. Rather Daemonia Nymphe has found a middle road where modernity and archaic tradition meet in a fusion of creativity and sound. Elements of ritual music, neoclassical, and neofolk influences can be heard running throughout the music. Chants, singing, drums, and beautiful stringed instruments join with wood wind instruments in a passionate play of spirit and music. The compositions are mature and thoughtful and move through various feelings and moods from remembrance and sorrow to celebration and ecstasy.

Though “Bacchic Dance of the Nymphs – Tyrvasia” is somewhat of a retrospective work in the chronology of Daemonia Nymphe it comes highly recommended to fans of neoclassical, neofolk and sacred music. Daemonia Nymphe's dedication to their art translates into a very mature and original work that explores an ancient culture and mythos that are often overlooked in the Nordic centric neofolk scene. If you are not familiar with the esoteric dimensions of the neofolk / neoclassical music genres and are looking for music focused on myth, culture and sacred music then Daemonia Nymphe would be a great entry point into this music scene.

Daemonia Nymphe is a great candidate for those seeking sacred music to accompany or compliment ritual or other sacred practices. The instrumentation is crisp and emotionally provocative and the lyricism is magical and romantic as it reflects upon myth and tradition.
