Empire Holds Down

Artist: Censor United States

Title: Empire Holds Down

Label: Hive Records United States

Genre: Post-industrial / Rhythmic Industrial / Break Beat / Jungle

Hive Records has added a new industrial hornet to its swarm. New York City musician Censor has made a home at Hive Records. Censor now joins the ranks of the Texas-based Hive Records and its roster of impressive American industrial musicians. Censor meets all the criteria of a Hive Records recording artist. Working with the cross-pollination and hybridization of various electronic music styles Censor is another rich offering from Hive Records that is sure to stun and astonishing fans of modern electronic music.

Censor goes a step further than most bands working within the industrial / drum n bass hybridization genre. Not only does Censor tear through all the expected barriers between genres, he continues forward blazing a new trail that includes beautiful orchestral moments and a blending of traditional drum n bass with cinematic industrial qualities. This new musical brew is both potent and intoxicating. The flurry of beats that accent the album are delivered with a sophistication and finesse that only the best drum and bass artists achieve while retaining the genres signature urban feel. The music is gritty yet transformed into something more sensual than one would think drum n bass was capable. By introducing elements of acoustic orchestration, particularly stringed instruments, and a heavy dose of industrialization, the break beat and drum n bass of the past decade has been transformed into something vital, refreshing, and new under the control of Censor.

"Empire Holds Down" offers music lovers an opportunity to explore new musical terrain. "Empire Holds Down" is a new and captivating album that is emphasized by the juxtaposition of harsh elements and soft elements being smashed together in a Symphony of harnessed sound. Flurries of break beats fall, shatter, and scatter across a canvas of sweet symphonic melodies and industrial grandeur throughout the album. Censor has confidently mastered his own brand of hybridization. Disintegrating musical boundaries and revitalizing these genres by splicing their parts together has created a new music that goes well beyond any of its components. Aging genres are being rescued from the slow death of repetition, exhaustion, and progress through the efforts of musical pioneers such as Censor and his peers. “Empire Holds Down" is a bold statement to critics of the modern drum n bass seeing who have repeatedly said that the genre is exhausted. Censor proves that creativity paired with technical prowess holds the promise of endless musical expression that need not know boundaries or expiration.

"Empire Holds Down" is highly suggested for fans of modern electronic music. Those looking for music that pumps out power at a rapid pace while engaging your mind as well as your body will have to find a copy of "Empire Holds Down.” Radical Faeries that revel in cutting edge urban music will also not want to miss this unique offering from Censor. Fans of industrial / drum n bass cross-pollination need to catch up with this chapter of the musical movement. With so many German and European artists often occupying the charts and the spotlight it is wonderful to see an American artist enter the arena with such a blaze of glory. Radical Faeries that missed out on the drum n bass or industrial music movements of the past decade and a half should take this opportunity to check-in with these matured and merging genres. Censor "Empire Holds Down" offers an unparalleled ride through fast sharp beats, thoughtfully placed sound bites, industrial brutality, and moving orchestration. This release it is very reasonably priced at highly suggested for both experience listeners and novices looking to establish a foothold in this new emerging genre.
