The land we purchased is a property between Kyogle and Nimbin, Nothereastern NSW. It has 130 acres, a reasonable house with two verandahs, close to Lismore, half an hour from trains and buses, privacy, several cabins, healthy spring water, permanent creek, rain forest, dams, good road access, close to national parks, good soil and enormous potential.
While the radical faerie community in the USA has been gathering and forming intentional communities for over twenty years, Australia has experienced its own history of faerie gatherings, circles, communities and networking as mentioned above. So it is that our local group has much experience and skills to offer.
We envisage a Faerie sanctuary which would operate as an intentional community, a cultural learning center and spiritual oasis for those who call themselves Radical Faeries, with the aims of Fostering stewardship of the land and honoring our natural environment as we do our own sacred Faerie natures, providing a residence for a limited number of Faeries, operating as a retreat center and occasional gathering site for the larger Faerie community, caring for and nurturing of elder Faeries and those incapacitated by illness or grief, sponsoring creative projects that reflect and support the Faeries and Faerie culture, sponsoring activism on relevant social justice issues locally and beyond and sponsoring and assisting in the creation of other sanctuaries.
